It doesn’t matter what shape you are, curvy, pear-shaped, the perfect hourglass or super slim, as long as you dress appropriately for your shape and show off your best assets so to speak then you can sun bathe, swim and frolic with confidence this summer!
However, we’re all guilty of a swimwear faux par, but when it goes wrong it goes really wrong – even for celebs…
So let’s take a look at some of the more common female shapes that will be hitting the beaches this summer and how best to dress for them.
If you have a larger bust it’s important to feel supported. Structured cups and seams as well as underwiring will all help to give you shape and support so you feel confident on the beach. Try wide straps to the shoulders or a halter neck to level out your top half. Dark colours and prints will draw attention away from your bust as will a dark top and vibrant bikini bottom.
Lucky you! You can play around with a lot of shapes and styles that will all help enhance your bust. Bikinis are perfect for you. Try a bikini top with padding or embellishments to the centre that will draw people’s attention to it instead of a lack of cleavage. A halter neck top tied tight can create a slight cleavage or, if you want to channel a sports luxe style, try a bandeau bikini top. Frills, fringe detailing and delicate prints will also enhance your bust.
It’s important to celebrate your curves and there are so many styles to help you do this. Try a cute 50s style high waist bikini bottom, which is a hot trend for Summer 13. If you are self conscious about showing off too much flesh try a swimsuit with tummy control panel. Dark contrast panels to the sides will create an illusion effect and narrow your torso for a slimmer look. Try buying a swimsuit in a size up – swimwear material is clingy and if you try and squeeze into one it will nip and pinch making you feel and look uncomfortable.
Most bikinis will suit you, but it’s up to you what kind of look you want to achieve. If you’re happy with showing off your boyish shape then try a bold stripe string bikini – this will accentuate your legs. If, however, you want to create the illusion of curves then opt for a bandeau top and fuller cut bottoms – a floral print will also help to enhance your shape.
Lengthen Your Legs
Even if you have the leggiest legs, lying semi-naked on a beach or next to a pool can be daunting and swimwear takes no prisoners so you should flaunt what you have and then some!
Whether you opt for a swimsuit or a bikini make sure they have a high leg cut as this adds inches to your pins. String bikinis that feature tie sides show off more sun-smooched skin, again, making your legs appear longer.
So, what are you waiting for? Getting strutting your stuff ladies!
