OK, so I know I haven’t done one of my style icon posts for a while now, but Christina Hendricks is designed to divide opinion.
Although she hasn’t been on our radars for very long and some might say that her character in Mad Men dresses better I’m going to run with it as well as trying to avoid the “dressing well for a curvy girl” status she’s plagued with.
Christina Rene Hendricks was born on May 3rd 1975 in Knoxville, Tennessee
She’s known worldwide for her role as Joan Harris in Mad Men
She began modelling at 18, a career that ended when she was 27 – moving onto small TV roles and dramas
What makes them a style icon?
I love the way Christina adopts a low cut neckline and slim fit cut as a standard style – although sometimes a deep V-neck deters attention away from her style choice!
Her red locks are iconic in themselves whether she chooses to wear them out and tussled or sleek and in a sixties-inspired swept up do
Clashing red lipstick with her fiery locks doesn’t always work for some red heads, but Christina manages the clash with confidence and a sexiness that rivals Jolie’s!
No matter if she’s pared down or dressed up, Christina always has an air of overt feminine sexuality – a modern day Marilyn Monroe
And, what’s more…when she sees photos of herself she always looks at herself as a beautiful woman instead of tearing herself apart with cruel criticisms
