Last week I had the stressful job of entertaining my friend Sara for an afternoon in Manchester before her hen do – while keeping the whole thing a secret!
So with an afternoon to kill in Manchester, what were two girls supposed to do?
Well we found out about a vintage burlesque fair in Sound Cloud and thought let’s try it.
Across three floors we walked through hand made hats, jewellery and clothes before stopping for tea and cake served in vintage china tea cups and a brief trip downstairs to the cellar of sin before promptly coming back upstairs!
My favourite stall though was a cute married couple. He was a shy chemist who made his own sweet-smelling soaps, shower gels and lip balms all crafted into burlesque-themed shapes…I bought a coconut scented corset shower jelly!
His wife adopted the burlesque look completely – hair rolled and pinned, vibrant red lips and a cute 50s inspired dress. She was the artist behind her husbands packaging. Her pinup girl sketches were printed on bath sets, mugs, cushions and compacts…
I saw this one with a Dita von Teese look-a-like sketch and had to have it. I love the era, the colours and the fifties flirty pinup style. It’s individual, a little different and comes with a cute red velvet pouch!
Take a look at this amazing couples Madams Pinups website to check out what I mean, they’re definitely worth a peek.
