Winter Layering Techniques with ModCloth

This season I’m loving the rich, dark and decadent hues of winter, nine more so than green. And when I say green I’m not talking about the zesty limes of summer, oh no, this season is all about forest greens.

As for the drop in temperature synonymous with winter, there’s nothing I like more than being able to layer up my wardrobe!

Looking on the ModCloth website, I decided to piece together three looks I’d love this season for three very different occasions featuring my favourite colour of course.

So first up on the agenda is off-duty chic – think coffee catch ups with the girls on a Saturday and an easy going Sunday brunch with your man.

For this look, my cosy layering piece has to be this beautiful Forest Train Home coat. The rich forest colour is simply stunning and the structured style is a favourite of mine. I’ve paired it with high waist sailor-inspired jeans, a cute sheer blouse that can be tucked in and a pair of leather riding boots for chic heritage style dressing.

Next up is workwear – this area is high up on my agenda working in a fashion forward office full of VMs, buyers and stylists!

For my layering piece I’ve decided that a cute embellished crop cardi is the way to go and have found one in my favourite of the moment green. ModCloth have a serious love of cardigans though and it was pretty hard to choose just one from their collection!

Layered over a fitted bodice skater dress and paired with pointed courts it’s a chic little outfit to parade around 9-5. As I’m a copywriter I’ve also added this cute typewriter necklace as it’s just so cute and really sums up my passion!

Finally it is of course partywear – forget raunchy LBDs and instead think dinner to cocktails with the girls!

OK, so I know this structured cardi isn’t really green, but the earthy grey tone is similar and I love it’s almost tailored style as a chic cover up to add to your party outfits when the temperatures hit single figures!

I’ve popped it over the top of this printed skater dress with mesh top, for a fifties-inspired, jive bopping look. With a pair of pointed ankle strap heels and sparkling stud earrings, I keep the look simple, yet structured for effortless chic.

All of the products I’ve featured in this post can be found over at ModCloth as well as flirty frocks, sexy shoes and joyful jewellery and of course there’s plenty of layering pieces to keep you wrapped up and stylish this season!
