Boy did we have some fun planned. After opening cards and presents we headed over to Hong Kong island for brunch at the Supper Club only to discover that the Happy Valley race track we’d planned to go to for some horse racing wasn’t on! We had read it wrong. It was actually happening over at Sha Tin race course over an hour and a half away!
Rob’s rocky road Birthday cake…amazing!!!
So off we headed taking about 4 subway lines, and an hour later we were there…
10 Hong Kong Dollars to get in (£1) and we were back in good spirits. We grabbed a beer and watched the second race before heading to the parade ring to watch the next race horses come in.
Yes I am drinking my beer with a straw. The woman put a lid on it and handed me a straw so I thought why not?
We stayed for a few hours in the baking sun, frequently nipping inside to take advantage of the air con, and trying to figure out how to put a bet on…very confusing and needless to say we didn’t bet!
Once we got back to the hotel we grabbed a shower before heading out to a restaurant on the waterfront called BLT. It had been recommended and as Rob loves steak it was the perfect end to the day. While Rob went for an American piece of I’ve forgotten now I chose Australian with jalapeño mash and Autumn vegetables…it was delicious, best steak ever!
The night was finished with a walk along the waterfront and back to the hotel. Perfect!
